Social media and its impact in classrooms…

Recently, I was interviewed by the Queen’s University Journal (our university newspaper) for an article regarding Social media in classrooms! It was finally published earlier last week and I just got a digital copy of it.

Honestly, I mentioned a lot of other quotable lines (in my opinion) I really wanted to stress the importance of including digital media and other tools such as twitter, facebook, blogging, delicious etc. as a means for students to stay engaged in the course content both inside and outside of class. I sure hope I got the point across.

But on another note- how hilarious is it when they quoted me as “Ho”. Classic.

Hi, I’m Abby Ho, a fourth-year Commerce student at Queen’s University. This blog is a mini-journal and collection of my favorite things. Music, movies, television, fashion, entertainment and generally all things pretty.

I intend on using this space as a blog,  and as a mini-portfolio of my work experiences.

I hope that this site will become a forum for me to share my thoughts and comments on events, entertainment news, marketing, public relations, and anything that makes me laugh or that I find interesting.

Student organized conference at Queen’s University, which celebrates creativity and provides the brightest students with the opportunity to network with individuals from a variety of arts and business related industries. Responsible for co-ordinating and contacting speakers in 2007, and co-chair in 2008. 

Managed the promotions of various Alliance films in Kingston, Ontario through obtaining media coverage. Most recent films include- The Reader, Milk, Four Christmases, Home for the Holidays and many more. 

Volunteered with Lotus Leaf Communications- a full service PR and creative firm, specializing in fashion, lifestyle, and media content. Dealt with media from Much Music, CosmoTV and worked closely with designers, Mellinda Mae-Harlingten and Afshin Feiz. 

 

 

Assisting my friend with the organization and launch of her photography exhibition. She is an extremely talented photographer. It is an honor to help her promote her work. 

I am responsible for organizing and fundraising $12,500 for a scholarship fund in memory of our late classmate Baha Bekenov. For more information please click here.
